Daria and I always try to get together at least once per year, and we try to merge fun and function together when we do. This year’s trip led us to Sharonville, OH, just a bit on the north side of Cincinnati, OH for the annual Stampaway experience. What a fabulous convention! If you are into stamps and all of the associated materials (inks, dies, stencils), then this is definitely the place for you! We took several classes, three together and one separately. We learned to work with copper in the Copper Butterfly lesson with Sandi Obertin, how to play with alcohol inks with Sheila Wy, and great ways to enhance card-making through masking with Tonya Weakley. Daria’s gift to herself was a class with the ever-vivacious Dyan Reaveley. My additional class was a wonderful class using monochromatics in Halloween card-making with Janet Winkle. Easy-peasy but looks like it took forever to make. We enjoyed our time at Stampaway, met some fabulous instructors that we hope to bring to you in a future Art Walk Alchemy, and will be offering some new lessons using some of the new techniques that we learned.
Oh, and of course, there was the Superhero Costume contest. No one knew who I was (come on. . .Katana with Suicide Squad, people!) but Daria knocked it out of the park with her Captain Marvel costume.
I should also mention that it was a birthday weekend for me. Hello, 55!
